When children in the United States stare into the night sky, they look for the man in the moon. Children in China, Japan and Mexico, however, look for the rabbit in the moon. In light of these cultural differences, and in honor of the Moon Festival (an event widely celebrated in Asia), Seattle area children’s language center, Sponge School, is inviting families to a free event of their own: the Autumn Moon Festival.
When:
Sunday, September 14, 10 a.m. – noon
What:
The Sponge Autumn Moon Festival will be a moon and rabbit themed day of crafts, mini language classes, snacks and fun. Children can participate in a special art project—rabbit screen-printing (bring a t-shirt)—and learn some new language as they sing, dance and play in Mandarin, Spanish, French or Japanese. Children ages newborn to 7 years old and their families are welcome.
Where:
Sponge School (Eastside Location)
375 NW Gilman Blvd.
Issaquah, WA 98027
